Germany to face EU court over water pollution and nitrates
The European Commission is taking Germany to the EU Court of Justice for failing to take stronger measures to combat water pollution caused by nitrates, which are essential for plants to grow and therefore widely used as fertilizers. However, excess levels can cause severe water pollution, with consequences for people's health, the economy and the environment.
