Bluewater global brand ambassador kite-foil sailor Ellie Aldridge crowned European champion

Sweden’s global water and beverage innovator Bluewater has applauded elite British kite-foil sailor Ellie Aldridge for her massive achievement in winning the European Championship title last weekend against tough competition in Portsmouth, England.

26-year-old Ellie, who became Bluewater’s sports ambassador a year ago due to her commitment to promoting plastic-free clean seas and opposition to single-use plastic bottles, described winning the title after beating 41 competitors as ‘an absolute dream’.

Ellie is one of kite foiling’s most successful international competitors. Her passionate role as a pioneer for the fast and furious sport has been confirmed by a raft of wins in the KiteFoil World Series and other events where she regularly places in the top three.

She says kite-sailing is closely involved with the two natural resources of water and wind, which makes it deeply connected to the environment and its life-giving elements.

After taking the European title, Ellie now has her eyes firmly focused on being selected to represent Team GB at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where the sport will make its debut.

“Ellie is a great ambassador for sport and the role it can play in driving greater awareness around the need to actively work for a more sustainable future by turning the tide on plastic pollution,” says Bluewater spokesperson Dave Noble, chief communications officer for Bluewater.
